User Reviews & Testimonials

My first feedback on the Geek RB IRs is positive. My benchmark are 3Sigma IRs. I found yours are more punchy (which I like)… I am using only the mixed IRs and I really dig the PZM ones. I will recommend them to anybody

Daryo Rondini purchased Dr Bonkers Bass Cab Classics Volume 7: GeekRB 4X10 Bass Cabinet IR Collection - Combo Pack (Fractal & Wav Files)

Again, the good Doc has come up with something that doesn’t sound like anything else…..the contrasts in the different mic/mixes is really extreme..in a good way, especially on the HypeReal™ mixes ….7 bucks..you bet.  The Rhythm Wiz preset is very sweet , instantly started playing my Tommy medley.

Brad Lake purchased Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 7: MBGR-G 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Files Collection – Combo Pack (Fractal & Wav Files)

These sound really nice!

Marcelo Silva purchased Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 7: MBGR-G 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Files Collection - Combo Pack (Fractal & Wav Files)

Alright so I read through all you guys suggestion.

I bought the ownhammers and dr bonkers based on all your recommendations.

And after slowly auditioning them for days….

My faves are:
Dr Bonkers Flthy SM57

For everything lol.

I use a helix. JCM 800 Model into it. AC30 Model into it. Matchless model into it. JTM45 Model into it. I just love this cab model it’s so ridiculous.

Nuttywalnutty (Line 6 Helix user purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 5: FLTHY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

I finally got a chance to try out the Dr Bonkers Marshall pack, and I like!

My provisional Next Big Plan allowed for picking one out of this set to load (more slots please Line 6, lots!), but in the end I kept all of the mixed ones except one. Didn’t compare with other makers, just pulled up an amp and went through them. Some are darker than ones I typically use, but I found them quite fun and useful.

I didn’t have the time or brain space to try the single mics, just the mixes, of which there are some not super common ones. Didn’t care so much for the PZM ones, but they’re an interesting idea, if I had more IR slots I might keep some around.

So bottom line, I definitely recommend these, not your standard fare!

Dave Merrill (Line 6 Helix user purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

…this cab is really cool, nicely balanced and sharpened !! i’ve played it this afternoon and i’m feeling inspired by the sound i’ve obtained!
well done Dr Bonkers!
it will be a long night ;)

Nicolas Noret (purchased the Fractal Audio & WAV files combo pack of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 5: FLTHY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

Nice job on this!
Love the mic choices, and you have the perfect amount of choices to blend as well.
And easy to navigate. Really digging this cab a lot. [then later]
I went into Cab Lab and mixed the RE20 Cone with the RE10 Cap straight up, & am loving it. Haven’t gone any further than that, cause I got stuck in just playin’, which is a great thing. [then later]
I been messing around in Cab Lab a bit, made a few more mixes, basically the same formula, but with a few other mics, the D12 and the M160. Both are killer with the D6.

Bryan Lane (purchased the Fractal Audio and WAV file Combo pack of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 5: FLTHY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

I’ve been mixing your cone mics and the BK 1 and 2 captures and its getting me exactly what I wanted out of the acoustic cab, really glad you put these back up (now if I could just figure out that 360 fuzz tone…)

Matt Hall (purchased Dr Bonkers Silver & Black Bass Cabinet IR Collection Volume 1: AC406 2X15 & Alu 1X15 Bass Cabs - Combo Pack (Fractal & Wav Files))

Well worth it.  Killer IRs.

I had been using the Rosen Audio bass IRs, but I like yours more.

Jeff Martinek (purchased the WAV file edition of Dr Bonkers Silver & Black Bass Cabinet IR Collection Volume 1: AC406 2X15 & Alu 1X15 Bass Cabs)

The Polytone is boss for jazzy tones!

Brad Lake (purchased Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 4: POLY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection - Combo Pack (Fractal & Wav Files))

I’ve gotten all of your guitar packs, and they’re all excellent. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s definitely a cut above most of the IR’s out there.

Andre LaFosse ( Purchased Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 1: LaVie 2X12, Volume 2: ALOHA 1X6, Volume 3: FALKO 1X10, Volume 4: POLY 1X12, Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collections (WAV file version))

Wow Mike just tried your IR s and they sound amazing!! From what I been able try in the last hour so far they are better than most of my IR s.. And believe me I have gone down the rabbit hole,,LOL  Ownhammer (OH), Redwirez, Cabir.eu, etc etc..

Your Ir s have a different feel to them..But a satisfying realistic tone Great cleans as well!!
I will be in touch and will post some positive reviews on Line 6 and The Gear Page!!
Thanks again Mike!

Joe Cort (purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection as files to use with a Line 6 Helix)

I am smiling since one hour 🙂 the poly sounds really amazing, it’s the first IR i ever bought, i am totally blown away by the brilliance already now. thanks for the great work – also the files are organized excellently – even an IR newbie like me is immediately happy! 🙂

Christian Steineder (purchased the Combo Pack Version (Fractal & Wav Files) of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 4: POLY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection

I was EXTREMELY surprised, in the best possible way, by this one from @Dr Bonkers :

https://www.drbonkerssoundlab.com/p…ume-a-jmld-4×14-guitar-cabinet-ir-collection/

Surprised because it’s a full-size pack for all of $0.99, and to my ears they totally hold their own against Ownhammer, God’s Cab, Kazrog, and others. Very curious to try some of their other IR packs.

(Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with Dr. Bonkers whatsoever, apart from enjoying the hell out of their IRs.)

Andre LaFosse (purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

your IR’s are excellent

Douglas Swanigan (purchased the WAV file versions of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 3: FALKO 1X10 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection & Volume 4: POLY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

Gotta say, these IRs sound great. I love the fact that you get cap/cone/edge with a whole bunch of mics – for each speaker! So much to play with, so much fun… I was very impressed indeed. Certainly the best Marshall IRs I’ve got.

Jason Law (purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

You weren’t bullshitting about these being good for 90’s rock tones!!! The best 99 cents I’ve spent in a while!!!

ExtremeTestosterone (purchased the Fractal edition of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

For $.99, this is a stupid good deal. There are some serious sounding IRs in the bunch.

Stefan Hawkins (purchased the WAV file version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

….these sound great and there’s a great variety of mixes which I’m enjoying.

Leon Todd (purchased the Fractal Audio version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection )

These sound fantastic and certainly make me interested in your other IRs.

- Jason Stone (purchased the Fractal Audio version of Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection )

Just purchased it. WOW is an understatement!! Great IRs!!

- Todd McMullen (purchased the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume A: JMLD 4X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection Combo WAv file & Fractal file pack)

I had to change the EQ on my rig but I really like these IRs, they sound quite different from regular guitar cab IRs, and it makes my rig a lot closer to a Polytone. It’s the M160 / SM81 mix, not sure if the Choice Mix or the HypeReal… I need to connect the Amplifire to the PC to solve the mystery.

Jorge Goncalves (purchased the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 4: POLY 1X12 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection WAV edition and used the files with Amplifire and LANDR)

Mike the IR sounds great. I really like it. It’s a good blend, balanced in the lows, mids and highs. No cloudy notches in the frequency response. Great job. I tried it in my little home studio. Tomorrow night I’m doing a live rehearsal with a fairly large group through PA, monitors etc. I look forward to seeing how it cuts through the mix. I’ll let you know how it sounds in that context. [Then later] it sounded good in the monitors and in the mains. It works particularly well for lead tones.

Robinson Scott Strickland (WAV version of the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 2: ALOHA 1X6 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection used with a Two Notes Torpedo)

Surprisingly versatile!

Brad Lake (purchased the Fractal version of the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 2: ALOHA 1X6 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

“I really enjoy that IR collection. I was jamming with it, tonight. Glad you liked the demo. ;)”

B:ASSMASTER (purchased the WAV version of the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 2: ALOHA 1X6 Guitar Cabinet IR Collection)

Hey Mike, finally yesterday got time to test the IRs with time.
They are awesome, played a lot with the mixes and the were all great and good tasty mixed.
As far as preset goes, I really liked the cab-amp matches… they were really fun to play with.
I was just jamming with the Agi 8X10 ir’s, such a monstrous tone on that!
Thanks so much for everything mike, great product!! (RE: Javo purchased Dr Bonkers Bass Cab Classics Vol.1 & Vol. 2)

Javo Maldonado

I ordered and downloaded the B15, Aguilar810, and ST810 from your web site this morning. Wow!!! These are especially relevant to me as I have played through each of these cabinets IRL. I owned and gigged the SVT810 back in the day when my back would let me move it around. Mike, you are amazing! You nailed it on all 3 and I am blown away. Still playing with them, and probably will continue testing them with my band over the coming weeks. No offense to the Fractal folks, but none of the factory cabinets (for bass) can approach what you have created in your cab packs. The AXE-FX XL+ is the front end preamp, effects, and modeler that I have been searching for these many years. However, your cab packs have made it a bass player’s dream come true. Thank you from the bottom of my low-end thumping heart!

Dave Tomasi

I purchased the Silver & black volume 1. What a great bunch of bass IR’s!!! I always prefer 15″ speakers to 10″ any day and these particular speakers and cabs are really special. 10″ speakers have too much upper mid range bark to my ears. Thanks Dr Bonkers, they are my go to IR’s for bass now. It is disappointing that a lot of guitar players don’t get involved with bass more often, especially if they do a bit of recording. Once I started playing bass on my own stuff my respect for bass players grew immeasurably. Great bass tones can enhance the overall soundscape bigtime!!

Martyntb (purchased the Fractal Audio Systems file version of Dr Bonkers Silver & Black Bass Cabinet IR Collection Volume 1: AC406 2X15 & Alu 1X15 Bass Cabs)

Thanks! I’m actually using one of your bass presets. It’s Clean Bottom/Dirty Top from your first Silver & Black Bass Cab IR Collection. It sounds nice and big with a vintage P Bass, with just a bit of hair.
