Historical Info (Click Here)

When you think of Rock and Metal music of the 1980’s and 1990’s, this cabinet was a workhorse that many used in the studio and on tour. The Celestion® G12-80 speakers were the forerunners of today’s FRFR speakers in that they had a tight bass response, could push a lot of dB-SPL before breaking up, and did not have the extreme frequency notches that many other guitar speakers had in that era. You either loved these speakers or you hated them, but no one could deny that these speakers had nice cleans and could shape an over-driven amp well.

This is the best sounding 4X12 I have ever come across in that you could hook any amp sim up to at least one of the cab mixes I have provided and have a viable, useful tone with little virtual  knob twirling. As I said in the Why Dr Bonkers section as well as in the FAQ section, I don’t give out free samples or look to offer guitar cabs that other impulse response  (IR) file providers already offer, but I realize guitarists need a baseline from which to judge a guitar cab impulse response (IR) file provider’s mic selection, technique, and taste level in selecting particular examples of cabs to capture.
