Historical Info (Click Here)

For almost 50 years Robert Gallien has produced instrument amplification systems with one time partner Rich Krueger. In the 1980’s, they changed the way bass players amplified their instruments with bass amps that produced a signature growl. In the 1980’s, they started producing the 410t™ bass cabinet and players continue to use them to this very day.

However in the 1980s, for a certain point in time up until the early 1990s, Gallien-Krueger® had experimented with also offering high quality guitar cabs to support their solid state guitar amp heads and combos.. While initially the guitar amps, combos, and cabs product line was a great success, the line was discontinued in the early 1990s when many popular guitar styles fled solid state amplification for a majority of genres and embraced tube or hybrid ss/tube technology en masse.

This particular amp was a Craigslist find where the previous owner was a metal enthusiast who supposedly picked this up from a NYC session player many years ago. The cab was in good cosmetic and functional shape for a well used unit. For a 2X12 this cab packs as much sonic projection as the loudest of 4X12 cabs that I have recorded to date. The cab and speakers together work to produce a very tight bass response with all the flubby frequencies severely attenuated, as well as a treble response that will allow you to be heard easily with most amp & guitar combinations without needing extreme EQ in a mix. This cab really plays well with both solid state and tube amp models in a very different way than the ubiquitous V30 speakers you see loaded in a majority of 2X12 cabs today.
