Historical Info (Click Here)

The Peavey® Solo™ Series Bandit™ 65 1X12 with Scorpion™ guitar speaker was something guitarists of a certain age could bond over. If you grew up playing guitar or gigged in the 1980s or 1990s, people ran across this amp either as a first amp, something to use in a rehearsal space or basement jam, or as the house amp in some rather down scale clubs. If you spent time with the Peavey® Bandit™, you could coax some great sounds out of it, but no one was going to mistake it for a Marshall® or Vox®, but the humble little Bandit™ was indestructable, virtually maintenance free, loud enough to keep up with the most Captain Caveman of drummers, and had a grinding distortion that fit many genres of music. It also took pedals really well for a budget amp.

The amp was so popular, they kept the name when they went Transtube™ and subsituted the Sheffield™ for the Scorpion™ and still sell it today. But there is something about the old Solo™ Series Bandit™ 65 amps from the early 80s that is somewhat magical. The reason they got a bad rap was they were extremely room dependent. If you had a room with the wrong kind honk, you could not compensate with the EQ and guitarists rarely like to spin a lot of knobs and the Peavey® had two pull pots and EQ tapers that needed some time to explore to dial in a tone in many rooms. But if you got it in a nice room, it was pure magic.

The well loved cabinet was loaned from Doug Edwards who plays guitar in Mushmouth and Radio Petty.
